This local seafood restaurant has been a Pacific Beach staple for over 50 years, embracing the casual lifestyle of beach life while proving that locally sourced ingredients can be delicious and inexpensive for surf and turf options in San Diego. Today, we at Penny Realty, Inc are taking a peek into World Famous, an iconic dining establishment that reflects the best of California and more specifically, Pacific Beach.

The décor has pretty much stayed the same over its 50+ years of existence, wood, concrete, and glass constructed to be a backdrop to some of the most delicious seafood you have ever tasted, but its simple charms turn to extraordinary delights when you step out onto its patio that just so happens to overlook the Pacific Ocean. Propane heaters ensure that no matter what time of year you are visiting, your spot with a view will always be comfortable, and if you don’t choose to dine right around the time of sunset, we have to wonder why not.
A California sunset is a sight to behold and if you just so happen to be dining on their World Famous Lobster Salad and savoring a cocktail from the bar at the time, well, this will be a memory you will cherish forever. Inside, the food is equally tasty, and the efficient and cheerful staff will ensure that your food is still hot, your drinks are kept full, and your every need is catered to and you may even be able to witness the sunset through floor-to-ceiling windows that look out over the beach as well!
The Menu
World Famous is open for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner, so as you might expect, its menu is quite extensive! Offering classic and not so classic breakfast dishes, we always recommend their steak and lobster benedict, but we also lean towards their Beach House pancakes served Hawaiian style. Brunch is served on Saturdays and Sundays from 8 AM until 3 PM and in addition to their standard menu, guests can enjoy their original recipe Pozole, a recipe that has been in use since 1970. At lunch, their Famous Burger speaks for itself, and at dinner? We have yet to enjoy a meal that we don’t absolutely love and can honestly say every dish is our favorite!
